Food origins – Preserved foods
This lesson provides information about the origins of canned and frozen foods and how they are processed. Canned and frozen foods are promoted as healthy choices and alternatives to fresh foods.
Includes a number of fun activity sheets and assessment activities.
This lesson has been developed with Aboriginal Students as the primary target group however the lesson may provide learning opportunities for all students. The lesson is in PowerPoint format and includes a number of fun, hands on activities to enhance student learning.
At the conclusion of this lesson, students will be able to:
- Understand the process of canning and freezing foods
- Make an informed choice when purchasing foods
- Have a greater understanding of where store bought food comes from
